The J&K administration will deploy drones for real-time monitoring of Vaishno Devi pilgrimage route in the state during Navratri festival.

Official sources said the security measures have been beefed up after terror inputs of Pakistan-based terrorist planning to target Hindu dominated areas during the festival.

Reports said the security forces have intercepted a communication between the terrorist commanders and their mentors who are planning to target specific areas in the state.Vaishno Devi temple which remained shut since the first day of the lockdown induced by the coronavirus pandemic in the last week of March this year reopened on August 16. It allowed as many as 5000 devotees a day, but now, the board has enhanced the limit of pilgrims to 7000.

The holy cave of Mata Vaishno Devi is situated at an altitude of 5200 ft and about 12 kilometres away from the base camp in Katra in Jammu and Kashmir.
